We believe in making dental visits as pleasant and productive as we possibly can. To us, this
means offering our patients gentle care in a friendly environment with consideration of their
needs and busy schedules. We are happy to provide you and your family with same-day
restorations in the Niceville area.
When a tooth requires repair with an inlay, onlay, or crown, the standard protocol involves
several steps. First, the tooth must be prepared through the removal of old filling and
damaged tissue. Reshaping may also be needed to accommodate the final restoration. To
guide the fabrication of the inlay, onlay, or crown, impressions are needed. The standard
impression makes a model of the tooth through the application of a sticky substance that
most patients find unpleasant at best.
Patients of Smileology in Miramar Beach have a different choice! With CEREC restorations, you
can skip the messy impressions and the extra visits and achieve results that are even better in
the long run.
CEREC restorations are made using CAD/CAM technology. These single-visit restorations save
you time and inconvenience. Even more importantly, though, they enable you to recreate the
natural structure of your smile.
How CAD/CAM works
CEREC uses a revolutionary technology through which tooth structure is measured via
advanced imaging alone. No impressions, no second or third visits. After we have trimmed
down the damaged tooth, we use a small camera to capture images of the tooth. These
images are processed in robust imaging software into a lifelike 3D image. The image is
scanned into our in-house milling machine and a precision-cut restoration is carved from some
of the highest quality ceramic available.
Repairing a damaged tooth with CAD/CAM processing leads to a beautiful restoration in a
short amount of time. There is more to this treatment, however, than beauty and time. One
of the wonderful advantages of in-office milling and 3D imaging is the ability we have to
achieve the best possible fit for the needed restoration. Fit is a critical factor to the longevity
of function in a restored tooth, and many CEREC restorations have lasted decades.
We care about helping you achieve your dental goals. The technologies used at Smileology are
complemented by our extensive training and our passion for helping patients restore good
feelings about their smile. Schedule your visit with us today.
